About us….

Welcome to Kensho Karate Dojo

We are a North London Karate based dojo that teaches Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu.

Goju Ryu literally means “Hard and Soft style”, which relates to the type of techniques used in Goju Ryu . “Go” being hard, for strong closed hand or straight techniques; “Ju” being soft, for open hand and circular movements.

Kensho Karate Dojo is affiliated with the English Goju Ryu Karate Do Association (EGKA) and also the International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate Do Federation (IOGKF) all of which are under world renowned karate master, Higaonna Sensei (IOGKF 10th Dan) and World Chief Instructor Nakamura Sensei (IOGKF 7th Dan).

The primary goal of the IOGKF is to preserve Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu karate and pass it on to the next generation.

Kensho is a Zen term about evolving spiritually through the process of experience. Through training learn to see your true nature.

I have never done Karate or any other Martial Art before, why should I start?

Karate is fun and good exercise for all fitness levels and all ages. Kensho Karate Dojo is a great place to begin your Martial Arts journey and is a fantastic place to keep fit, learn self defence and meet new people. It is never too late to start!
