CORONAVIRUS – Update 19 July 2021

Hi All,

I hope that everyone is well and enjoying the summer so far. It is almost as hot as it is in Okinawa.

It’s been a long road and although a majority of government restrictions will be easing, we still need to be responsible and vigilant.

With this in mind we feel it is important to continue with certain measures to keep a safe environment for all. Therefore we will be doing the following:

  • Pre-booking classes will still remain active
  • Measuring of temperatures will remain for adults only
  • Removal of 2 metre boxes
  • No spectators allowed
  • “Kiai” is back!!!

We will slowly be bring in full contact, but if at any point you don’t feel comfortable with an activity,  we can provide an alternative until the activity is finished.

We will continue to review measures, however we remind everyone to be sensible and respectful of others.

In accordance with the above we have updated the DO’s and DON’T’s section below

About us….

Welcome to Kensho Karate Dojo

We are a North London Karate based dojo that teaches Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu.

Goju Ryu literally means “Hard and Soft style”, which relates to the type of techniques used in Goju Ryu . “Go” being hard, for strong closed hand or straight techniques; “Ju” being soft, for open hand and circular movements.

Kensho Karate Dojo is affiliated with the English Goju Ryu Karate Do Association (EGKA) and also the International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate Do Federation (IOGKF) all of which are under world renowned karate master, Higaonna Sensei (IOGKF 10th Dan) and World Chief Instructor Nakamura Sensei (IOGKF 7th Dan).

The primary goal of the IOGKF is to preserve Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu karate and pass it on to the next generation.
